Hurricane Charley Roof Construction Project
November 4, 2005 Update
Good evening to all: It seems things are
starting to wind down a little. West Coast Roofing as of Friday last was
working on the last of the metal panels at the north side of the north A/C
Pod. This past weekend they Marteen and his crew were going to be setting
the ridge flashing on the north side. They can't finish the under window
flashing at the penthouse clerestory windows until the windows are
installed, however I asked them to caulk seal along the sill interface until
that time. The lower flat deck is complete with the exception of the metal
cap. The upper curbs have been poured and covered with roofing membrane and
await metal. The upper stair to the elevator is in and the 14th floor
walkway rails are ready for install later this coming week as soon as the
hoisting equipment is removed.
Mabry has completed charging the north pod and had started the 34 riser pod
on Friday. This week he hopes to have some additional help on the south pod
as it takes quite a long time for one person to do it. I watched him and you
can see the humidity slowly bleed from the vacuum pump. They half to suck
out all of the moisture from the first floor to the 14th floor.
I will be inspecting the 31 riser with John Z. Monday morning prior to
commencement of the pour-back of those decks. quantities will be taken along
with photos of each repair for the photo album. Complete Aluminum is
starting to install the screen enclosure for PH-1 which came in this past
week. Both exterior penthouse decks have been waterproofed. The 32 and 33
risers are being tiled and the other interior lanai risers are finished with
the exception of some tile repairs. One word of caution, the 31 and 37
risers cannot be tiled and the mast climbers will not be removed until the
screen enclosures are replaced. Complete Aluminum has been put on notice to
measure those lanais and commence fabrication.
The new compactor showed up on property this past week and a portion of the
trash room slab needs to be raised around the floor drain to provide
adequate support for all wheels.
In closing, the roofing project is on schedule for completion this week and
it appears with the exception of the windows, the restoration project may be
completed a day or two ahead of their schedule.
