Good Morning (afternoon): Sorry about this report being a little late as
we encountered a couple of rain days early last week (Rita) that affected
the work progress on the metal roof. West Coast is busy on the south side of
the upper roofs with emphasis on the waterside. They are starting to
fabricate and install the final flashings along panel termination locations.
The second new stair up to the Elevator Equipment Room is due to arrive this
week and be installed. Also had the contractor replace the old access panels
with louvered ones with insect screen to provide some natural ventilation
inside the enclosed attic space.
Good News! I met with one of the air conditioning techs from Mabry Friday
and they have started. This week there should be three crews working on the
equipment set-up and electrical connections. I requested they start on the
35 riser with emphasis on 935.
There are only two mast climber left on the building - one for the 31
riser and 1 for the 32/33 riser. RLJ is completing their pours on the 37
riser, are grinding the slabs at the 33/32 risers and removing tile from the
31 riser. Creative Tile has sent a man out to handle the re-tile of the 3rd
floor walkway. Speaking of which, you all know why manufacturers ask that
tiles be pulled from different boxes during installation in case there is a
color or pattern variation from lot to lot. In most cases the color range is
similar enough the difference in color variation is slight. However, on the
third floor, the color change was so great, a new color could have been
introduced ("Red Smoke"). It looked so blotchy, I wasn't impressed,
especially coming off the elevator, so the floor was rejected.
There should be quite a bit of progress on the roof this week as West
Coast's internal due date is set for the 15th of October.
