Hurricane Charley Roof Construction Project
June 6, 2005 Update
Day one is over. RLJ has started removing
tile from the 12th floor and some tile chips are finding themselves all the
way down to the ground in front of the building. Not good for ignorant
guests. Mabry Brothers has marked and cut the lines to the units from second
floor up to and including the 8th floor at 35, 36 and 37 risers. A good
start there. West Coast Roofing moved the crane into position, put a
pot-a-potty on the roof and proceeded to remove the roof panels from the
inside facing penthouse sloped roofs and are moving towards the river side
at both structures. The goal is To have the tectum removed on those inside
faces Tuesday with the installation of sub-fascia, metal deck, plywood and
dry-in. Should be completed by Wednesday at the latest.
The first mast climber has been completed and H & E will be back on Tuesday
to set up the second one at the 36 riser. The 37 riser will be set up when
the base machine shows up.
Met with Dan this morning and discussed the fencing issue. It was decided to
block off the entire property including along the beach and water's edge
from traveling guests and short-cutters. The will have to walk around the
entire property from the street. We will also erect a temporary gate across
the entry drive tomorrow accessible only to workers and contractors. This
afternoon we had three people (families) cut across property under the crane
boom on their way to the north tower. I don't want to be responsible for
them getting hurt and I don't think the board does either. By the way, if
you want to come on property, you must wear a hard hat - no excuses.
